Santeshivara Lingannaiah Bhyrappa, born 1934 in Karnataka is an eminent Kannada novelist. His twentyfour novels over a period of five decades have been widely appreciated and critically acclaimed. Known for social realism, number of his works have been adapted into films, tele-serials and musicals. VAMSHAVRUKSHA, TABBALIYU NEENADE MAGANE, MATADANA and NAYI NERALU were made into films that received critical acclaim. Recipient of the civilian honour of the Padma Shri (2016), he has also been honoured with State and Central Sahitya Academy Awards. PARVA, the most critically acclaimed of all his novels narrates the social structure, values and mortality in the epic of Mahabharata very effectively.
